Inferno, Kid
‘Inferno, Kid’ is a coming of age story on a path strewn with vice, danger and vanquished hope.
'Inferno, Kid' is an award-winning spoken-word piece. It tells the story of a young man, Dylan, on the margins of modern society. His world is one of angst, bravado and desolation. The scene is set in and around 'The Street': a fictitious area based on any number of marginalised communities in Ireland. The tension between the brutal realities of gangland crime and the unbridled but ultimately vanquished, hope offered by the political promises of urban renewal define Dylan’s adolescence. There are nine chapters and each one relates to a different challenge of pronounced complexity. 'Inferno, Kid' is inspired by the real life events and offers a gritty window into poverty, crime and social policy.
