William is a long-term member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and a former member of the Audit and Finance Committee of the global organisation. His background is in education and social policy and he has held senior leadership positions in Limerick, Dublin and Mississippi. During this period he has presented before the OECD, shared a vision from the TED stage and been elected to South Dublin County Council. In 2019, William had a spoken-word piece performance at the Edinburgh Fringe, ‘Inferno, Kid’, which outlined the gritty reality faced by young people in areas of acute social marginalisation.
William has a Masters of Education from the University of Notre Dame and has delivered workshops to groups in both the community and private sectors. He is passionate about empowering young people and has been involved in pioneering research to equip young people with the core skills of Motivational Interviewing to assist their friends in the challenges they may face.
